Who Can Apply
Current Undergraduate Actuarial Science Students
If you are a South African citizen currently studying Actuarial Science full-time in your first, second, or third year at a recognised institution, and you have a strong academic record, you are eligible to apply.
Required documents:
- Full academic transcripts
- Proof of registration or a fee statement
- Copy of your matric certificate
- Copy of your South African ID
- Comprehensive CV highlighting academics, extra-mural involvement, and leadership experience
- A motivation letter answering the following:
- What does an actuary do?
- Why do you want to study Actuarial Science?
- Why do you believe you have what it takes to become an actuary?
- Why should Sanlam choose you as a bursary holder?
- If you do not become an actuary, what other career options are you considering?
Grade 12 Learners (Matric Students)
Sanlam is also looking for exceptional matriculants who have demonstrated excellence in Mathematics and have a strong academic track record. If you enjoy solving complex problems and are committed to years of study and training, you may qualify.
Academic requirements:
- Final Grade 11 results
- Grade 12 mid-year results
- National Benchmark Test (NBT) results
- At least 90 percent in Mathematics and an overall A aggregate
Other required documents:
- Comprehensive CV highlighting academics, leadership roles, and extracurricular activities
- A motivation letter answering the same questions listed for undergraduates
How to Apply
The Sanlam Actuarial Bursary Programme opens for applications from the 1st of April to the 30th of June every year. Only online applications are accepted and must be submitted with all the required documents.
